RVDB website viert 25 jarig bestaan (1995-2020)

RVDB heeft medio 1995 vanuit het xs4all platform de eerste versie van deze website gelanceerd. In 1998 kreeg de site zijn huidige uiterlijk in de vorm van 6x6 velden. Daarna is het aantal lagen geleidelijk opgevoerd naar 6. Dat brengt het totaal aantal basisvelden op 216 (6x6x6). Door latere toevoegingen van 'scherm' themapagina’s (zie voor overzicht de ‘site map’) bedraagt het werkelijke totaal aantal velden aanzienlijk meer (ruim 600).
Opzet en vorm van de site is niet alleen origineel gebleven, maar ook aanzienlijk robuust. De Koninklijke Bibliotheek (KB) heeft april 2020 besloten om in het kader van haar webarchiveringsproject de RVDB-xs4all site op te nemen in haar historisch archief van sites uit de periode 1993-2000. Volgens de KB waren deze vroege websites broedplaatsen van digitale innovatie en verdienen zij de status van digitaal erfgoed. Helaas zijn de gearchiveerde sites vooralsnog alleen toegankelijk binnen het KB complex (vanwege juridische redenen). Daarom houden we de huidige versie van de site de komende tijd voorlopig nog via xs4all on-line.

RVDB website celebrates 25 year anniversary (1995-2020)

Mid-1995 RVDB launched the first version of this website from the xs4all platform. During 1998 the site got its current appearance in the form of 6x6 fields. Gradually the number of layers increased to 6 resulting in 216 (6x6x6) base fields. Due to later additions of theme 'screen' pages (for an overview, see the site map) the actual total number of fields is considerably more (over 600).
The design and shape of the site has not only remained original, but also considerably robust. April 2020 the National Library of the Netherlands (KB) decided to include the RVDB-xs4all site in its historical archive of sites from 1993-2000 as part of its web archiving project. According to the KB, these early websites were incubators of digital innovation and deserve the status of digital heritage. Unfortunately, the archived sites are currently only accessible within the KB complex (due to legal issues). That is why for the time being we will keep the current version of the site online via xs4all.
